Antenatal Visits

Doing your antenatal visits from as early as your 8 week sonar to confirm your expected date of delivery and continue thereafter. Monitoring your pregnancy, the well-being of you and your baby!

  • 12 week (Sonar and bloods for Down-syndrome if wanted at private gynae)
  • Your first Midwife visit will be at 16 weeks
  • 20 week with midwife or Anatomical sonar with gynae
  • 24 weeks with midwife
  • 28 weeks with midwife

  • 36 weeks with midwife and sonar ( Private or with Gynae)

Antenatal Birth Preparation Workshop

We do antenatal workshops to prepare you and your birth partner for your pregnancy journey, birth, breastfeeding and looking after your baby when he or she arrives. This can be done via Zoom or in group classes

Check-up for mother and baby as well as Papsmear if proffered by mother and starting of contraceptives

Survival Support Group

Contraceptives

  • Oral (MIcroval while breastfeeding)
  • Injectables (Depo or Nurestrate)
  • Implanon
  • Nova Ring

Papsmear

This is a  procedure checking for cervical cancer or cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer. A Pap smear may also help find other conditions, such as infections or inflammation.

It is usually done at

  • 6 weeks after birth appointment
  • 3 yearly from 25 years
  • HPV should at least be tested for every 5 years

Breastfeeding

From the first latch in the golden hour until the end of your journey we would like to assist you in having an amazing breastfeeding experience. Helping you to get a good start to your breastfeeding journey and assist you with any problem you might experience! This is our passion!!

Breastfeeding is an intimate experience between you and your baby and holds so many special moments. It is providing the ultimate nutrition for your baby. Breastmilk is dynamic and an adapting living substance ensuring every nutritional and immunity need of your baby is met.

Having problems during your breastfeeding journey like cracked nipples and mastitis is NOT normal and seeking professional help with a breastfeeding consultant can prevent these problems. Seek help as soon as possible after birth as this will assist you in ensuring a correct latch and the correct knowledge and skills to prevent any of these complications.

Breastfeeding is such a blessing and privilege!

Why Home Phototherapy?

Our phototherapy bed is portable and lightweight. A safe, feasible and effective alternative to in-hospital treatment. Damage to the skin is greatly reduced with correct usage.

The bed can be set up anywhere in your home.

Our Services Include:
  • Assistance with set up of the phototherapy be, guidance on how to optimally use the bed and how to position your baby correctly
  • Weight Management of your baby to ensure good hydration
  • A skilled Midwife will draw bloods to repeat jaundice values or will refer you to the lab depending on your individual situation.
  • Guidance with feeding will be provided during phototherapy for optimal results and to ensure good weight gain of baby
  • A Midwife available 24/7 within reason
  • Assistance with medical aid claims if not cash
  • Average treatment time 2/3 days

We at ThisisUs Practice DO NOT do diagnostic sonars of any kind. The images obtained and supplied by us are for bonding purposes only. We are not qualified to do diagnostic sonars.

We provide you with what we can see. If baby is not in the correct position for images, you will be advised to return for another scan at half price (Charged for time spend scanning).

An estimated:
  • Fetal heartrate and presence thereof
  • Estimated due date in first 12 weeks
  • Gestational age (Weeks pregnant)
  • Gender
  • Fetal weight
  • Fetal position
  • Presence of a pregnancy in the uterus

We strongly advice all patients to go for diagnostic sonars at 12, 20 and 36 weeks of gestation. These sonars can be done by either a Gynaecologists or Sonographer, recommendations can be provided.

The 20-week Anatomical sonar is of great importance to see whether your baby has any anatomical deformities and whether you should be referred for further investigations.
